colorado-calamityA calamity is “an event resulting in great loss and misfortune.” Certainly what took place recently in a Planned Parenthood abortion center fits that description. Our thoughts, prayers and condolences go out to all affected by this tragedy. We also disavow any violence in that it is fundamentally against anything characterized as pro-life.

The 57 year-old deranged drifter, who entered the building intent on killing people, did not act for any twisted religious reasons, thank God! He did behave in a manner diametrically opposed to everything the sanctity of life/pro-life movement represents. “No more baby parts!” was his rant as he gunned down the innocent victims.

Now abortion advocates are trying to capitalize on the tragedy and once again this emotionally-charged issue comes before us as Americans. Our challenge is to be compassionate and clear in our responses.

My dear friend Alveda King, niece of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. once stated, “Planned Parenthood has been very successful in misleading people since it’s inception.” In the aftermath of the Colorado clinic calamity, their supporters are out in full force once again.

5 MYTHS TO REFUTE CONVINCINGLY YET COMPASSIONATELY

1. Contrary to those claiming to be Pro-life, Pro-choice proponents represent women’s health for safe and legal abortions.

After the mass killings, the Rocky Mountain Planned Parenthood president said the deranged man was “motivated by opposition to safe and legal abortions” in their “health center.” This comes right after the organization quoted Hillary Clinton, “Every child deserves the opportunity to live up to their God-given potential.” She states repeatedly that she, like Barack Obama, is “proud to stand with Planned Parenthood.”

The reality is, abortion is not a safe, harmless procedure for pre-born females (and males). It’s not like other surgeries, say a root canal or tonsillectomy. Abortion is an operation terminating the life of a developing little baby. If you’ve ever seen a 3D sonogram or an actual video of a late-term abortion where scissors are inserted into the base of the baby’s skull and a beheading occurs, you’ll never be silent facing this deception again.

2. This anti-abortionist’s conduct was part of the “war on women” who have a right to control their own bodies.

In reality, an unborn baby is not just “part of the woman’s body” like her liver or lungs. The unborn child is a totally separate person with 46 chromosomes, a separate blood system (often with a totally different blood type) and it’s own unique body parts.

Beyond this, it must be understood that no person has absolute right to his or her own body. All of us are subject to certain civil laws that restrict our personal rights. For example, a woman may not legally sell her body for prostitution; she may not legally inject narcotic drugs into her body; and she may not legally kill herself, although some misguided people are pushing in this direction.

3. If Planned Parenthood wasn’t in Colorado and elsewhere, needy women would be forced to back alleys again where they lost their lives.

Should we legalize and sanction heroin addiction because some people die in back allies due to overdoses and dirty needles? Should we legalize and promote prostitution as a legitimate business in order to curb the spread of AIDS, rape and STDs?

Former abortion rights activist Dr. Bernard Nathanson admitted prior to his death that he and his National Abortion Rights Action League fabricated figures that 1 million women were getting illegal abortions in America annually with tens of thousands dying. He admitted that the average was really about 98,000 illegal abortions, with an average of about 250 deaths for 25 years. Plus, 90% of these were done in doctors’ offices!

Isn’t it interesting that in the Colorado flooding of not long ago, it was mandatory that animals were to be rescued? How can we do any less for the defenseless unborn? We must speak charitably when engaging people, keeping uppermost that Scripture declares, “the Lord hates… hands that shed innocent blood” (Prv. 6:16-17).

4. This maniac and other anti-abortionists, are trying to stop Planned Parenthood’s mission of providing “reproductive health care” and services like mammograms that promote the health of women and families.

First of all, Planned Parenthood does not provide mammograms. What they primarily provide is taking of the lives of over a third of a million unborn babies every year! This is their core business and they are very successful as evidenced by the stats and mega salaries of their top officials.

Second, undercover investigative videos caught Planned Parenthood officers discussing and joking over another area – financial aspects of harvesting baby body parts. Just as they distance themselves from their founder, Margaret Sanger, who was a racist and eugenicist, they do likewise by suggesting the videos were “heavily edited.”

Alliance Defending Freedom released a national survey showing how skillful Planned Parenthood is in projecting the image of a noble “health care provider.”

60% mistakenly believed they provide education for new and expectant parents.

37% incorrectly thought they provide counseling for parents interested in adoption.

Only 36% were aware they perform abortions, yet it performs more abortions than any other organization in America.

They may say they want abortion to be “safe, legal and rare,” but if they are raking in $150 million yearly in revenue from abortions, why should they slay their cash cow?

5. Colorado proves that anti-abortionists and Jihadists both represent dangerous terrorism from extremist minorities.

First of all, a Gallup Poll from six months ago made it clear: 55% of Americans want all or most abortions made illegal. Most of the past five years have shown Americans have been fairly evenly divided on this issue. So pro-life supporters are not a small minority!

Next, the attempt to portray pro-life protectors of unborn babies akin to radical Islamists is absurd. Concocting a narrative that there is a surge in violence and threats against abortion providers similar to global terrorism must be refuted.

Hillary Clinton recently said, “Islam is not our adversary. Muslims are peaceful and tolerant people and have nothing whatsoever to do with terrorism.” Yet it is not a minuscule minority of Muslims who support Jihad and global domination. Pew research revealed 22% of the Muslim population are in this camp – more than the entire population of the United States of America!

While some put forth that it’s only a wayward minority who believe the Koran’s emphasis on violence to achieve global domination, that group is growing rapidly and advancing Islam globally with 32,658 deaths this year from Islamic terrorism – up 80% in one year.

How many adults have died in abortion clinic violence in 42 years? That total is eleven.

As 150 world leaders, including our president, gather for the next two weeks in France for a summit on climate change, those who disagree are labeled “climate change deniers.” How about those in government refusing to identify or even name radical Islam? Aren’t they living in denial amidst this civilizational struggle?

Abortion centers like the one in Colorado collectively account for about 897 innocent babies aborted daily. In 2016, Planned Parenthood will spend over $20 million to elect candidates supportive of their practices while collecting $500 million of our tax money unless we stop their funding.

Here’s the deal: Colorado was a nightmare, but so too is the fact that every child has the “right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness,” yet scores are subject to domestic terrorism every day. Through our prayers, voting and civic engagement may we refute the myths and make a stand for righteousness ‘till this scourge is removed from our land in another spiritual awakening.

“Making an open stand against all the ungodliness and unrighteousness which overspread our land as a flood is one of the noblest ways of confessing Christ in the face of His enemies.”
– John Wesley, leader in America’s First Great Awakening
