This past Saturday in Orlando, Florida, over 1500 people packed a church building for the Awakening 2016 conference. Sponsored by Mat Staver’s Liberty Counsel, participants were inspired by speakers and ordinary citizens whose courageous actions challenged Planned Parenthood, Islamic radicalism and opponents of religious liberty. They’re making a definite difference today.
On Tuesday of this week, a book/video initiative titled “Bullseye Challenge“—endorsed by Steve Strang, Jack Hayford, R.T. Kendall, Mike Bickle, Bill Johnson, Mike Brown, Che Ahn, George Grant, Michael W. Smith, Jennifer LeClaire, James Goll and other major Christian leaders—calls upon parents, educators, youth, pastors and politicians to set aside 15 minutes for 30 days to make a difference and become “an informed influencer in today’s changing culture.”
A week ago, thousands of influential publishers, broadcasters and ministries gathered in Nashville for the National Religious Broadcasters annual convention. A major address given by Thomas Rainer of LifeWay charged those present to “educate your people” so they make a difference in the upcoming election and our decaying culture.
Significance of 12-56-1?
Sue Trombino founded WIN ministry (Women Impacting the Nation), challenging women to make a difference in society today. She says there were “12 apostles and 56 signers of the Declaration of Independence following 1 Savior.” They made a difference because they did not fear man but obeyed God, speaking boldly for truth in their generation.

Across this nation, there is a clarion call inspiring people out of timidity and fear. It’s time to rise up and speak the truth with charity and clarity that our nation may experience a “new birth of freedom” and a third spiritual awakening for which we long.
